This study presents the costs associated with the construction of a plant for Sodium Chlorite production from chlorine, sodium hydroxide, and hydrogen peroxide in the United States. The process examined integrates hydrochloric acid on-site production, sodium chlorate production via electrolysis, hydrochloric acid-based reduction to chlorine dioxide and finally chlorine dioxide reduction with sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide.

This report presents the economics of Sodium Chlorite production from sodium chlorate, sodium hydroxide, and hydrogen peroxide. Initially, chlorine dioxide gas is obtained from sodium chlorate via a sulfuric acid-based reduction with sulfur dioxide as reduction agent. Then, this gas is absorbed into a solution of sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide, yielding sodium chlorite. The economic analysis is based on a plant located in the United States.
