ICC - Process Overview Text: <h6>Product</h6> <p><b>m-Xylene</b>. m-Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon used primarily in the production of isophthalic acid, a key ingredient in resins, coatings, and PET production. It also serves as a solvent in various industrial processes. m-Xylene is obtained from crude oil refining and stored as a liquid. It is crucial to industries producing strong, corrosion-resistant materials for packaging and construction.</p> <h6>Raw Material</h6> <p><b>Mixed Xylenes</b>. Mixed xylenes refer to a mixture containing benzene homologues with formula C8H10, encompassing three isomeric dimethylbenzenes - o-xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene – and usually ethylbenzene. Mixed xylenes are produced on commercial scale mainly from catalytic reformate, pyrolysis gasoline, toluene disproportionation product, and coke-oven light oil. Most of mixed xylenes are recovered for the production of Paraxylene. To a lesser extent, mixed xylenes are used for orthoxylene production and gasoline blending. Purified xylenes, in turn, are used in a number of products including plasticizers and polyester fibers, photographic films, beverage bottles, etc.</p>
