Product
Laurolactam. Laurolactam is a lactam with the chemical formula C12H23NO. It is the monomer used in the production of certain specialized nylons. On a commercial scale, Laurolactam is mainly produced through two manufacturing routes, both based on cyclododecane, made, in turn, from the hydrogenation of cyclododecatriene. The first manufacturing route involves cyclododecane oxidation to cyclododecanone, followed by ammoximation of cyclododecanone with hydroxylamine sulfate, while the second route is based on a photoreaction between cyclododecane and nitrosyl chloride.
Raw Material
Cyclododecanone. Cyclododecanone is an organic compound used in the production of nylon and other polyamides. It is also used as a fragrance intermediate in the cosmetics industry. Cyclododecanone is synthesized through the oxidation of cyclododecane and is stored as a liquid. Its significance in the polymer industry, especially for producing durable materials, is well recognized.
